Artist's Description
Here is a night view (long exposure) of Avalanche Mountain and The Wedge in Alaska's Chugach Mountains, just before winter solstice, 2016. This area of mountains is illuminated here by the nearby Anchorage city lights, while the clouds were backlit by a bit of the aurora borealis.

I am a lifelong Alaskan (except for a few years "outside") perpetually enthralled with Alaska's unique natural beauty. I carry a camera, lenses, and tripod about on frequent treks throughout the Alaska wilderness, often in the Chugach Mountains near my home. I am mostly drawn to conventional landscape photography - subject, light, composition, and color. Occasionally I'll get the opportune shot of wildlife as I trek about, and sometimes - but infrequently - I travel outside Alaska, where of course my camera accompanies me. :-) I am always updating images here from recent treks, and look forward to seeing you here again soon!
