Description
Here were the last few hours before snow blanketed this scene for the winter of 2013. This is Campbell Creek beneath Ptarmigan Peak in Alaska's Chugach Mountains. Alaskans call the early snows which cover the mountaintops before winter "Termination Dust", because they signal the "termination" of summer. Here you can see that the dust has already blanketed the mountains nearby, and very soon will deliver on their promise of winter right where this photo was taken.
